Xasthur is an American one-man ambient black metal band formed in 1995 by Scott Conner, who goes by the pseudonym “Malefic”. Although similar in terms of low-fi production and the wearing of corpse paint, musically and lyrically Xasthur’s focus is not on paganism, satanism or anti-christian blasphemy – as is common in the genre – but rather on astral projection, darkness, despair, suicide, hate, and death.

Malefic has toured with Sunn O))) and has joined Nachtmystium on stage, but stated in an interview for Pitchfork Media that he “will always keep Xasthur a band that will not play live.”
Malefic states Burzum and Mütiilation as main influences.

The band have dubbed their music as "blastcore."

"Mumakil" is taken from the Lord of the Rings and is of the Speech of Men of the East, allies of Sauron. It's a plural word for the oliphaunts.
Pronounce "moom-a-keel," they were gigantic Elephant-like multi-tusked behemoths which struck fear into the hearts of those they faced and which were used as such in the battle of the Pelennor Fields.

The band have recently inked a deal with the Canadian label Caustic Rhythms who will re-release "Customized Warfare" in the US & Canada. It's not clear at this time whether they will be the bands main label though as Mumakil have been searching for a new label recently. As of July 29, 2008, Mumakil has signed to Relapse Records.

In the summer of 1998 Jan Sallander started a band under the name “Cold”.
Jan brought with him a bassplayer from his old band and found a drummer
who lived in stenungsund, where they rehearsed. With (just) three bandmembers Jan Sallander
felt that it was not enough for the music he created. It needed two guitars.
At the end of Dec 1999 Jan Hellenberg joined the band, and it was then the band took the name ‘The Cold Existence’
In the end of year 2000 the drummer and bassplayer quit the band, but the band quickly found a new drummer (Björn Eriksson) and a new bassplayer (Patric Syk). After that the band had a solid crew.!!
At the same time The Cold Existence moved to a descent rehearsalroom in Gothenburg.
In the year 2001 the band wrote 15 songs and recorded a couple of demos for personal (use/usage), and they also started to perform live more often.
In the year 2003 The Cold Existence recorded their first official (demo) ‘Beyond Comprehension’ At studio Los Angered with Andy La Roqcue behind the mixerboard! The demo get a good (heavy) sound and was met by a really good response by media and audience.
In late 2004 the bassplayer Patrik Syk left the band and Peter Laustsen did not only got the spot as bassplayer, he also have alots with musical contacts.
After that the band inked a recorddeal with USA label Khaosmaster Productions on a release of their demo Beyond Comprehension as an MCD wich was released in USA and Europe and get very good respons.
In Europe the band get alot´s of Good reviews, magazine Close Up wote them as best band in 2005.
In late November, early December 2005 The Cold Existence started to record their first full length album , ‘The Essence’ in studio Los Angered .

Psychostatus is a studio project by me - Greg Murani. I have been writing music for over 4 years, playing for 8+. I'm not so much a band, it's just me, a guitar, and a recording studio. Samael are a long-running Swiss black metal band formed in 1987 in Sion, Switzerland.

Although much of their music from the mid-1990s onwards has incorporated electronic sounds which would best define their genre as industrial metal, they are an early 2nd Wave black metal band and an innovator for post-black metal styles.

Their first demos presented a slow, doomy style of thrash metal with raw vocals, similar to that of Celtic Frost. Some of the songs would be included on Worship Him (1991) and Blood Ritual (1992).
